The Bobcat Backpacks Program was started in January 2016 by community members dedicated to ensuring that students in the Radford City Public School System did not go hungry. Each week this team of volunteers provide food for >170 students in the school system. Packing of the backpacks takes place about once a week in the Fellowship Hall at the Radford Presbyterian Church. find out more about the program, its mission, and how you can help at https://www.gofundme.com/f/bobcatbackpacks.

The Necessities Pantry is an outreach mission developed and sponsored by the Presbyterian Church of Radford. The Pantry takes place in our Fellowship Hall once a month, and provides many different types of necessities (toiletries, hygiene products, household cleaning products, etc.) to members of our community.

Grandparents Raising Grandkids Support Group meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10 am to noon. The group is open to families in Radford and surrounding communities. Light refreshments are provided and lunch is optional. The group is focused on learning how to better manage issues at home and school, and provides connections with other families and resources.

Radford University students participate annually in the “Radford Gives Back Community Service Project” in which they raise more than 12,000 food items that supply 25% of the food for the Bobcat Backpack Program as well as food for other local programs. Students from the University and from the local school system, along with assistance from community volunteers, bring and unload the food in the Fellowship Hall where it gets packed during the year.
